Hey hey people!!! Who else loves brunches on Sundays? The last Sunday was spent at the BBQ brunch at this beautiful new restaurant in Goa – Vero Cibo at Novotel Goa Resort & Spa. What's different about this restaurant? Pretty much everything! It's situated in one of the busiest beach towns of Goa – Candolim. But, it has a sense of tranquillity to it unlike many other places along that stretch.
Once you enter the resort – you cross the lawns, spa and the pool to reach this little hideaway right at the end of the resort, across lush green fields with a view of swaying palm trees and serene countryside. So if you're looking for something different than a beach experience, this is it, the other side of Goa!
Done up with simple and elegant bird cages, yellow lighting, white drapes, candle lit chandeliers and cool breeze, the ambience of the restaurant lends itself to a special Mediterranean vibe. It was a little humid – obviously, it’s summer in Goa, but the great food, ambiance and view made up for it.
Let’s get to the brunch – they haven’t introduced it on a regular basis yet, but they are planning to have it every Sunday. It’s their BBQ brunch, so expect a lot of live grills with a variety of seafood and meat, besides their extravagant range of salads, soup of the day, cheese board and a stunning dessert assortment displayed at the striking and rustic Red Little Cupboard.
The bar is conveniently located right across the restaurant and serves a variety of mocktails and spirits. I started with a sangria over lunch and eventually ended up with a tall glass of chilled lemonade – exactly what I needed to beat the heat. They have loads of other activities happening as well, which adds to all the fun! We actually played some games and they were quite fun!
Getting to the food – I tried and loved some of the items off their grill. They had the pork chop, tenderloin, veggies, prawn, pork, beef and so on. I absolutely loved the grilled prawns – tender and juicy. The pork chop was fabulous – marinated just right with tamarind, chilli, sugar and apple juice, served with an assortment of three sauces – chilli teriyaki, apple honey and red wine sauce. The tender meat grilled just right enhanced the flavour.
The mains had an exquisite Spanish lineup and roasts – duck and chicken. We also tried a bunch of vegetarian pizzas loaded with baby corn, olives, mushroom and cheese, made at their in-house pizzeria! They had a selection of desserts as well – from carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, cupcakes, coconut pie, mango cheesecake and so on. We absolutely loved the cream caramel – creamy to the right consistency and the special Vero Cibo chocolates that melted in the mouth – just how we like it!
