First experience : Watson's Goa Grubpub in Panjim

There lays a retro grubpub in a place where The Upper House ruled for many years. After serving the inhabitants of Bangalore for years - Watson's has found it's way to Goa in this vintage Portuguese bungalow - Rua Cuhna Riviera - opposite the Municipal Garden in Panjim. Serving some delicious fingerfood and imported liquor, Watson's Goa has become the talk of the town within a few months of setting base in the city.

A lot of my friends tried the place before me and kept telling me to check it out. So I finally gave in and decided to step foot in Watson's one Saturday afternoon. As I climbed the flight of stairs that leads to Watson's, I was warmly greeted and ushered into a dimly lit lounge. With a bar counter at the corner, amazing decor and tasteful music the place gives a good vibe. I headed towards the brighter area which was actually meant for families. The titled roof, white walls with metal decor, wall paintings, lanterns, etc. gave the place a retro vibe. Let's move on to the food.
The food menu looked tempting. With a mix of Goan, Western and Indian, Watson's serves some great food. The first two pages of the menu has nothing interesting with some bar tidbits and veg and non-veg rolls. They have an amazing twist to the sliders. The chicken and beef sliders are served in Goan pavs, thus adding the Goan touch to the burgers. Also all the local pav delicacies like Beef Cutlet Pav, Kheema Vada Pav, Chourico Pav, Samosa Pav and Egg Burji Pav are served. Cool right?

Watson's also serves a list of veg and non-veg pizzas. They are all hand-tossed, 8-inch, thin crust pizzas topped with mozzarella cheese. The non veg pizza's - Indiana (Chicken Tikka Pizza), Chourico Pizza (sausage pizza) and Mixed Seafood Pizza seemed interesting to me. They have a really long list of fusion vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers. Non-vegan one's include chicken, mutton, pork, beef and all type of seafood. The veg main course includes a lot of North Indian food, while the non-veg main course includes a variety of authentic Goan cuisine. Watson's also serves some sinful desserts.
Knowing me, a sucker for non-veg food - so we first asked for a non-veg appetizer - Bacon Wrapped Prawn. What we received looked and tasted equally amazing. Herbed marinated shrimp, wrapped in bacon and grilled till done. They were served intact with grilled tomato and topped with olive, a dot of mayo and herb. I love prawn and I am sure it couldn't get better than this.
Next we asked for the Mixed Seafood Pizza. It was made of a mix of shrimp and calamari and topped with herbs and mozzarella cheese. Nothing extraordinary, but delicious. Watson's had a lot of varieties in tandoori items as well, so we got a platter of kababs. We asked for the Watson's Chicken Tikka Kababs. The kababs were mindblowing - marinated and grilled just right. Juicy and tasty garnished with chopped coriander leaves and served with pudina chutney.
The service at Watson's is of special mention. Also, the pricing is great. For a place like this, I expected the stuff to be way expensive, but it was very reasonable. And with the variety and number of items on the menu, this place is surely going to rock. Hope the quality remains the same throughout. I am definitely going back to this place for the amazing food and great ambiance.
