Succulent Roasted Duck at Arthur's Theme, Pune

It was on a cool July afternoon I found myself at the gates of Arthur's Theme in Koregaon Park, Pune. Hidden beneath a canopy of trees, one can easily walk past this place and not notice it. There was a slight nip as I got off from the car. As I stepped in, I couldn't stop but admire this classy place with themed decor and old school charm. Totally classy!

It was well past lunchtime when I went there with Samir and Anub. I was stuck in Mumbai traffic and reached Pune an hour and a half later than scheduled, so this was kind of a late lunch. As we settled in this exotic looking place, I completely soaked in and relaxed in the ambient vibe the place had to offer. The interiors and furniture was white and bright. There weren't many guests at this time of the evening (around 3.30 p.m. I guess) and we had the place to ourselves.

I absolutely loved the menu. They serve exotic Continental Cuisine. You are spoiled for choice with the assorted steaks and grills - chicken, duck, turkey, beef and seafood; a variety of appetizers, soups, pasta and salads both in vegan and non-vegan. The menu runs for pages and everything seems so appetizing. They also serve some amazing European desserts.


Starters were ordered and we were served a crispy platter of Mariana. They're fried potato skins tempered with garlic, onion and herbs served with tartar sauce. Glancing through the menu, I noticed something really absurd about the way the food is named. Everything has a name that sounds like a persons name. For instance, the Turkey dishes are called Richard, Fredrick, Nelson and Excalibur. Similarly, all the food has unique names.


There were three types of duck served. Saxon, Gwen and Ester. First up, we had Saxon. We received Oven Roasted half a duck topped with herb enriched orange sauce and served with French Fries. Gwen was succulent roasted duck cooked in a concoction of breadcrumbs and cheese sauce accompanied by potato croquettes. The duck was well cooked and one of the most delicious dishes I had lately.


Next on the table appeared Abel. Succulent Chicken breast infused with cheese cooked in cordon bleu style and topped with garlic flavoured sauce and served with potato wedges.
