Anupama Dayal at India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) Summer Dive 2016

It was a blazing riot of colours at designer Anupama Dayal's collection showcased at India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) Summer Dive 2016. And while her line was a step away from the itsy-bitsy beachwear, there was drama and grandeur that gave it a resort wear feel.

Seen in abundance were flowers and garlands, on the models and the designer herself. And rightly so - cause Dayal's show was eponymously named 'Madhumalati', in reference to the visual delight that the tiny flowers invoke in summer.

Set to some haunting numbers - Dil cheez Kya Hain from 'Umrao Jaan' was the opening act by Deepti Gujral. Dayal's ensemble flirted with brocade blouses, chiffon sarees and Benarasi weaves. Magenta, purple, chrome yellow, green were ubiquitous. So was the attention to detail - the flared shararas, the colourful hangings on the saree pallo, and the borders in the cigarette pants.

Dayal, whose works are synonymous with bright hues, is no stranger to colour. But with 'Madhumalati', she managed to break away whatever little 'colourful' inhibition she may have had. Contrast stood its ground - the mauve suit paired with a bright orange dupatta of intricate work - even as coordinated colours of yellow-black prints made a splash.
