If you love rooftop restaurants as much as I do and have a thing for artistic places, you will absolutely love Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge. The place which was earlier called HI Bar, has been revamped and thrown open to the public somewhere at the end of last year (Nov 2015). Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge is located right above Mainland China on Kankanady Bypass Road in Mangalore. You just have to locate the building named Inland Galore and enter there and get on the fourth floor. Until then, you wouldn't know Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge is situated there since there's so signboard or any directions whatsoever.
So, about the place, Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge is tastefully done. There is a little bakery cum desserts corner right at the beginning, which has really meaningful graphics on the wall behind. How I loved it! This place is really bright and oxlourful (P.S. The background is pink. So cool right?) The interiors are made of red and black cushioned couches with low tables and intricately designed walls. The slogans and graphics over all the walls is definitely the highlight of the place. Such a positive vibe being surrounded by so much art. The bar counter isn't really fascinating, it looks really simple, no stools either. There is also an outdoor sitting, where there are couches in one side and high chairs and tables on the periphery. The view below isn't anything to boast about, but you get an absolutely stunning view of the Mangalore sky. If you love the sky, go there during sunset and you will love the experience. Trust me.
So we went there during sunset and settled for a while as we watched the sky change from blue to crimson, only to eventually turn grey and black. The drinks menu seems loaded with almost everything you wish to have. But they did not have Expresso. Pity my life! Whatever I want, is never available anywhere. We ordered our drinks and enjoyed the IPL match. Did I mention there are LCD TVs screening matches both indoors and on the terrace. The service is quick and the waiters are very responsive.
The food menu though not very lengthy, has a decent number of appetisers and main course in both - veg and non-veg. They also serve seafood and some local varieties with a classy twist. Also, to mention, the menu cover is really really cute. Some really great graphics done on the bright yellow cover page. So my thing! The artist seems so talented. So coming back to the food, we ordered Chicken Nachos. The food was quick to arrive. We had a large serving of Nachos, topped with cheese and seasoned chicken bits. The Nachos were crispy initially, but as the cheese melted, they turned soft, but absolutely delicious nonetheless. The serving portion is really great and can easily suffice for two.
Next up, we ordered the Barbeque Chicken Pizza. The pizza at Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge is made of thin crust, nice juicy BBQ chicken pieces and loaded with cheese. Something really tasty and tummy filling. Overall, I loved the ambiance and the food. The setting is great for chilling out with friends, date night or spending your weekends. The food is great too, so foodies won't have any problem either. Thirsty Turtle - The Terrace Lounge is known for the occasional parties they throw as well. There is a little really cute DJ console at one corner inside. Even though no party was happening, I wish we could attend one. I'd love to visit this place again and try out more of their things.
