Udupi is a beautiful place sandwiched between the lush green Western Ghats on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. It is a place for calm and peace loving people. You can also visit the many temples in the town.
Udupi also has serene beaches. You can spend your time just lying down under palm trees on the golden brown sands and enjoy the cool breeze.
It is not very crowded and lets you have your little weekend escape very peacefully. There is a natural port and a river in the vicinity as well.
If you are a food lover, this place has a lot to offer. You can feast on the popular authentic Udupi cuisine. Sea food lovers can enjoy the fresh sea food dishes you get in restaurants in Malpe.
How to get there?
Udupi is a major railway station on the Konkan belt. You can take trains from other states of the country or the passenger trains that ply between Mangalore and Goa. The nearest airport is the Bajpe Airport (Mangalore) that is 50-km away and Hubli Airport that is 230-km away. There are regular buses from nearby cities to Udupi on a regular basis.
The visit to Udupi was petty random with a few friends on Sunday. We took a train from Mangalore and reached Udupi by 10 a.m. And explored the place a bit. The beaches are beautiful and has some great street food stalls too! Have a look at the photographs.
