It was on a weekday that I had to meet a friend over dinner and we headed to Cafe Marina at Sea Palace Hotel in Colaba. It is a peaceful and spacious rooftop restaurant located in the most happening part of the city, near Gateway of India, a little ahead of Taj Hotel. When you leave the buzzing streets of Colaba and step into Cafe Marina, you are transported to an altogether different world.
The ambience is great and the place offers a breathtaking view of the sea. You can watch the twinkling stars, vehicles passing by on the busy streets below and the pattern of lights spreading it’s reflection in the sea. I absolutely loved the setting, with high chairs and a lantern placed on the table that gave a romantic feel. Perfect for a date night!
Marina Cafe has a very long menu that offers everything from India to Pan Asian and continental food. The bar menu includes a large variety of wines, cocktails, shooters, beers and all other drinks. The service is great as well.
As we settled in and were about to place our orders, I get to know my friend is a pure vegetarian. And with due respect, I had to switch to vegetarian food as well. Even though I love non-vegetarian food, this was a great experiment. So I ordered ‘cream corn on toast’ for starters. And the waiter arrived with a platter of creamy mouth watering toast made with corn and melting cheese...truly continental and delicious! Yummilicious!
I wanted to try their pasta and opted for Spaghetti in creamy cheese sauce. A large bowl of spaghetti was served after a while and the quantity was more than enough for two. The food was great and I loved the view, which made the evening really memorable.
